this valley

can be found somewhere between

not wanting to be here

and not wanting to die

the sun barely makes it over the top of the hills

and when it does, casts shadows

so industrially heavy

when I turn to my shadow in this valley

instead of confirming my presence

by morphing over rocks and grasses

floating along the ground

it proves nothing, or worse

holds desolate density

a body between light and a surface

can we search for the opposite?

a light between body and a surface

a surface between light and a body

a body of light surfaces between us

the stripes of sunrise on a bedroom wall
